We thought you might like to learn a little more about some of the pictures on this site, such as where they are and what inspired the photograph.
It is our intention to keep changing the picture and its story, so keep popping back for a look.
06-Sycamore Buds
Grid Ref: 443 898 (OS Outdoor Leisure 7)
Whitbarrow Scar lies to the south east of Windermere and is a limestone plateau thrusting up from the green fields of the Winster and Gilpin valleys. Upon the western edge, the summit is an open area of white limestone flags and isolated sycamore trees. The only sounds are the wind racing through the grasses and the calls of the buzzards.
In early spring, the first colour arrives upon this bleached landscape. The sycamores begin to bud, and Whitbarrow Scar becomes a subtle tapestry of pastel pinks, yellows and greens.
And now the experience can be yours too!
