Below are details of the special features that we believe
make our cottages both unique and value for money.
1. All our cottages are entirely handmade. This means there are no imported or mass-produced parts. Windows, doors and all other features are made by hand. Each cottage is individually crafted and therefore unique in its own way.
2. All our cottages can be viewed and accessed from all angles. We don’t believe in flat, featureless backs to dolls’ houses. Our cottages look as good from behind as they do from the front. If required, we can provide your cottage with a turntable to make the most of this feature.
3. All our cottages are prepared for lighting. This means cable runs are routed into place and walls/floors pre-drilled at appropriate places for lights. Also, copper conductive tape is fitted and transformer points put in place around the perimeter. Needless to say, all cable runs and copper tape are hidden from view behind false walls or under floorboards.
4. Every cottage has removable components to make your cottage accessible for decorating and lighting. When you’ve done all you need to do, just pop everything back into place!
5. Historical accuracy is important to us. We don’t just make dolls’ houses, we research our subject to create a true record of the fascinating dwellings built by the craftsmen of yesteryear. Your cottage will be modelled upon cottage styles that can still be seen today.
6. We provide a choice of interior styles for most of our cottages - either plain or fitted. Both styles have all the features mentioned above.
The plain interior, as the term suggests, has nothing inside except a first floor panel. However, if you want additional items, for example, a set of stairs then we can provide these for an additional charge.
The fitted interior typically includes the following features -
partition walls (panelled or wattle and daub), floorboards, flagstones, all internal doors, stairs, ceiling beams, roof beams and rafters (where appropriate), chimneybreasts/ firehood, and fireplaces/inglenook.
7. We can build just what you want!
