1. All our cottages are entirely handmade. This means there are no mass-produced parts. Windows, doors and all other features are individually crafted. We pride ourselves with our attention to detail, for example, the outer walls of our cottages are 9 mm thick to give a more realistic depth. Because they are all handmade, each cottage we produce is unique in its own way.
2. We think your dolls’ house should be treated like any other professional model and be visible from all angles. We don’t believe in flat, featureless backs to dolls’ houses. All our cottages can be viewed through 360 degrees.
3. All our cottages are prepared for wiring. This means copper conductive tape is fitted and power points in place upon either the back or, in some models, the back and sides. Cottages with fitted interiors also have cable runs routed into place as well as holes drilled at appropriate places for light fittings. Needless to say, all cable runs and copper tape are hidden from view behind false walls or under floorboards.
4. Every cottage has removable components, e.g. floors, roofs, chimney breasts, etc. to make your cottage as accessible as possible for effective decorating and wiring.
5. Historical accuracy is important to us. We don’t just make dolls’ houses; we research our subject to create a true record of these fascinating buildings. Your cottage will be based upon actual examples that are still in place today.
At Herdwick Landscapes we aim to offer quality 1:24th scale cottages while at the same time ensuring they meet the twin requirements of practicality and flexibility expected by today’s miniaturists and dolls’ house enthusiasts.
