BRIDGE HOUSE, AMBLESIDE

This curious building was built in the 17th century and served as an apple store in the orchards of the Braithwaite Estate.

The tiny granite-built church of St. James’s is a familiar sight upon a rocky outcrop where the road down to Buttermere exits the Newlands Pass.  It has a stained glass window (replicated in the model) of Mary and Martha

THE GRASMERE GINGERBREAD SHOP

Sarah Nelson’s Gingerbread Shop was originally the tiny village school.  It stands in a corner of the churchyard.  William Wordsworth taught here in the early 19th century.
